Finding Confidence Without Clear Skin

As an acne care company, we want to do everything we can to help you clear up your breakouts, scars and bumps. But more than that, we want to do all we can to help you feel confident.

You see, for so long it’s been made that clear skin = confidence. I went so many years of my life thinking if I just got clearer skin I’d feel better about myself. And when it didn’t happen right away, I hated looking in the mirror. I walked around with my head down and I was nervous to even look someone in the eyes while talking because I thought they’d see my skin. I did so much to get clear skin, but the truth is, my life would have been a whole lot easier if I just felt comfortable with myself all along.

We’ve had some amazing folks like @skinwithlea and @acnescarskin share their stories on here, and one thing that always stands out to me is the moment they decided to stop tearing themselves down. The moment when they realized their skin is a journey and if they didn’t decide to be happy now, they didn’t know if they would ever be.

Another thing that stands out to me in our “Acne is Normal” series, is the feeling like you’re alone. When you look around at your friends or at school and you feel like you’re the only one dealing with breakouts. Or if other people are, they definitely aren’t as bad as yours. And sometimes that’s true, but you can let your entire life be affected by some distant goal of clear skin.

And that’s what I’m here to say. You should feel confident even if your skin isn’t clear. You should know that you look so amazing today, right now. That the media has made us feel like having acne is weird and something to hide, when literally 85% of people have it? That means at some point in our life, 85% of us have probably tried to hide our skin because we were embarrassed. How do we let that happen? How do we let something that affects the vast majority of us dictate how we feel about ourselves?
